Soldiers of the Sealed Knot with pikes at the ready

A Liverpool family at war!

Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 June
12.00 noon - 5.00pm

Few people appreciate the contribution made by Sir Richard Molyneux (1617-1654) to the fortunes of the Molyneux family.  Ultimately, his loyalty to the crown during the English Civil Wars helped to elevate the family to the Earldom of Sefton.

Civil war cannonSir Richard died at Croxteth and is buried at the church of St Helens, Sefton.  Sir Richard Molyneux's company of The Sealed Knot (Britain's largest single re-enactment group) are delighted to present a 'snapshot' of the times in which he lived here at Croxteth.

Step back in time and look at the crafts, the clothes, hear the muskets fire and the cannons roar and imagine the trials and tribulations experienced by people of every class and status during those very troubled times.

Free entry to the showground.
