Croxteth Hall turns into a construction site
Workmen have moved into Croxteth Hall and started installing the lift which will allow disabled visitors to access our upstairs display rooms. Excavations through the ground floor of the Edwardian (1902) wing revealed a much older brick lined culvert. Its origin is unknown - there are no plans with it marked on, but it may have been an old field drain, or could have been part of the bakehouse and brewery complex which existed before the new wing was built.

The hole is now about one and a half metres deep.
Work is progressing steadily upstairs as well. The first 'breakthrough' has been made - workmen have cut a hole in the third floor - giving a view to the second floor window with the courtyard cobbles in the background.
