Free entry to the Hall!
As part of the National Heritage Open Day scheme, on Sunday 10 September, Croxteth Hall is offering you the chance to come and have a look around Croxteth Hall for free. The Hall is open between 10.00am and 5.00pm (with last entry at 4.30pm). This is a great chance to have a look around the Hall depicting Lord Sefton's home as it would have been in Edwardian times, from the kitchens and 'service' areas to the Earl's rooms. (All children MUST be accompanied by a responsible adult).
Our Heritage Volunteers will be on hand to explain more about the life of Lord Sefton and the servants who used to work here, or to answer any of your questions about the hall and family.
To add to the day, following the successful first exhibition of their work, Croxteth Hall is repeating the showcase exhibition of the wonderful images taken by members of the South Liverpool Photographic Society.
This free exhibition of South Liverpool Photographic Society photographs will be staged in the oak panelled Old Dining Room of Croxteth Hall. Photographs feature historical and cultural images from the park's June 2006 event 'Liverpool Family at War - the Molyneux's in the English Civil War' in partnership with The Sealed Knot - the largest re-enactment group in Europe.
The exhibition will also feature images from the Myerscough College Croxteth Country Fair event in July 2006 depicting many of the Countryside and Leisure activities of a by-gone age at Croxteth Hall. The event also hosted medieval entertainment with the Knights of Longshanks.
The Old Dining Room and the rest of the Hall is open from 10.30am through to 4.30pm. To maximise everyone's enjoyment of the day, the rest of the Hall museum rooms will be free for visitors on this day only! (All children MUST be accompanied by a responsible adult).
