Gold from Southport

Christian Hartley trophy from Southport flower show

Liverpool City Council's Horticultural Team from Croxteth Hall and Country Park, Green Hill Nursery and Sefton Park Palm House were successful at Southport Flower Show, winning a Large Gold Medal and the Christiana Hartley trophy for the finest display of specialist interest.

The display is based on the theme of water and performance.

The display includes a wide range of tropical plants, all grown in Liverpool City Council's glass houses, which are on display across the City, fabulous water features and jungle animals including a crocodile, gorilla, water hogs and snakes (all made from plant material).

Cup winning displayLiverpool City Council's executive member for the environment, Councillor Berni Turner, said: "This is fantastic news and the team have worked tirelessly to make sure that this exhibition is perfect.  To be awarded two top prizes at such a well known and prestigious festival as the Southport Flower Show is wonderful and raises Liverpool's profile."

The trophy and a photographic display will be on display at Croxteth Hall this Bank Holiday weekend.
