Offer one - photographic exhibition plus free access to Croxteth Hall rooms
Croxteth Hall and Country Park in partnership with South Liverpool Photographic Society present:
A free exhibition inside the Old Dining Room of Croxteth Hall featuring historical and cultural images from the park's June 2006 event 'Liverpool Family at War - the Molyneux's in the English Civil War' in partnership with The Sealed Knot - the largest re-enactment group in Europe.
The exhibition will also feature images from the Myerscough College Croxteth Country Fair event in July 2006 featuring many of the Countryside and Leisure activities of a by-gone age at Croxteth Hall. The event also hosted medieval entertainment with the Knights of Longshanks.
This is the first time Croxteth Hall has showcased the wonderful images taken by members of the South Liverpool Photographic Society.
The Old Dining Room and the rest of the Hall is open from 10.30am through to 4.30pm. To maximise everyone's enjoyment of the day, the rest of the Hall museum rooms will be free for visitors on this day only! (All children MUST be accompanied by a responsible adult).
Offer 2 - fruit tree pruning with an expert
Come and join our heritage gardeners and have a go at fruit tree pruning. The Walled Garden at Croxteth Hall is home to some fruit trees which are unique in the UK, as recognised by the Head Gardener from Highgrove. Our gardeners will demonstrate the very different ways that our fruit trees are pruned and there will be opportunities for you have a go.
The gardeners will be happy to explain the history of the Walled Garden and our fruit trees, and will answer any of your gardening question.
There are two sessions with the gardener for this offer, starting at 1.00pm and 3.00pm. Numbers are limited to 08 per session, are free, and should be prebooked. To book please telephone us on 0151 233 6910
Offer 3 - Farm treasure hunt
Children and adults alike will enjoy the sights and sounds of country life at Croxteth Home Farm, which is home to an important collection of rare breed farm animals. Get up close to all our animals and join in the treasure hunt.
This offer is open to all, but normal farm admission prices apply (£2.30 for adults, £1.50 for senior citizens or children - all children MUST be accompanied by a responsible adult).
There will be 'goody bag' prizes for the best 20 answer sheets drawn at 3.00pm on the day.
