Colourful fungi in Croxteth Park

A group of brightly coloured Fly Agarics

Fungi can take many different shapes and colours. Pictured here is the typical red and white spotted 'toadstool' - called Fly Agaric (Latin name Amanita muscaria). It is poisonous - so like any fungi - don't try to eat them unless they have been positively identified by an expert.

Some fungi have 'English' names (like the Fly Agaric), but many only have latin names, so they can be a bit tricky to remember.
