British Heart Foundation Lifecycle
Over 100 hearty cyclists joined the British Heart Foundation (BHF) for the Liverpool Help-A-Heart ride in the magnificent settings of Croxteth Hall and Country Park.
The family bike ride offered the participants the opportunity to take part in either a 3, 6 or 9 mile ride in and around the tree lined avenues of the country park whilst also raising vital funds for the BHF.
World Champion Gymnast, Beth Tweddle was on hand to start the event and said,
"The sight of over 100 riders taking part in the BHF's Help-a-Heart Ride in Croxteth Park was fantastic to see. It was especially nice to see so many youngsters taking part who are obviously learning from a young age the importance of keeping a healthy heart through regular exercise"
Thanks to the hearty participants, who enjoyed the glorious sunshine at the ride, the Liverpool Help-A-Heart Ride is expected to raise over £5,000 to continue the fight against Heart Disease in Merseyside.
By putting pedal power into action and taking part in the Help a Heart ride the participants not only contributed to their own Heart Health they were supporting the BHF's 'Help a Heart campaign', which aims to raise £1.5 million to fund vital heart research. The support of people in Liverpool is vital because across the UK, almost 600 sons, daughters, mothers, fathers and friends lose their lives to heart and circulatory disease every day. The charity is committed to preventing lives being devastated by the disease and its research has helped save many lives but it needs ongoing support.
