New calf born at Croxteth
Workers at Croxteth Hall's Home Farm are celebrating the arrival of a fine bull calf, born on the Home Farm on Saturday 29 October. The news is particularly good as the calf is an Irish Moiled, one of the rarest breeds in Britain and a new arrival may help secure the future of this endangered breed.
There are fewer than 250 breeding Irish Moiled cattle in existence - making them rarer than the Gaint Panda in the wild!
The Farm at Croxteth Hall is a Rare Breed Centre (with close links to the Rare Breed Survival Trust), home to many unusual breeds of Cattle and other livestock. The Farm is open to the public every weekend during the winter months and open every day from Easter to October.
