Events at Croxteth Hall and Country Park
2011 was Liverpool's Year of Health and Wellbeing - continuing Liverpool's Decade of Health and Wellbeing, a long term programme of improvement in physical and mental health for individuals and communities. Parks and Greenspaces are supporting this effort through our events and activities. More details (and a calendar of events) are on the Health and Wellbeing website.
Plans are currently being finalised for this season's events (March-December 2012) and the website will be updated by the end of February. As always, this year's events include contributions from voluntary and community groups, registered charities and the private sector in putting together a programme of events for visitors young and old to enjoy. We will continue to build on last year's Health and Wellbeing events, with our 'Five Ways to Wellbeing.'
1. CONNECT
Come to an event at Croxteth Hall & Country Park, meet people and make new friends or simply come with your family or friends and spend time together.
2. BE ACTIVE
Get some exercise; join one of our weekly cycle ride or walks; one of our competitive or fun races; have a go at our outdoor gym or simply come for a walk on miles of pathways and enjoy your'countryside in the City' and getting out into the fresh air.
3. TAKE NOTICE
Take time to enjoy the beauty of Croxteth Country Park, and appreciate the changing beauty of the seasons in all weathers.
4. KEEP LEARNING
Enjoy one of our educational self-led visits advertised periodically throughout the year; take a visit around the Historic Hall or enjoy one of our popular Ranger led events.
5. GIVE.
Give some of your time to go to a park - it's good for you! Give a little more by volunteering with one of the groups associated with the parks such as the 'Croxteth Hall Heritage Volunteers' or 'Croxteth Garden Society' or 'the Friends of Croxteth Hall and Country Park' or simply take part in one of our Charity events.
We can announce that plans are being finalised for last year's most popular events to return once again including our popular self-led events; Easter Egg Hunt, Summer Teddy Bear Hunt and Children's Ghost Hunt, 2 Wedding Shows (25 March 2012 and 7 October 2012), nostalgic donkey rides and traditional young childrens funfair (12 and under), health events including our 3rd annual Pramathon, our 2nd annual 10k Race on June 3 plus our second annual 'Run for your Life', a Halloween themed fun run. We will also, once again, host the Merseyside Schools Cross Country Championships in October.
The run up to Christmas will see the return of the popular Christmas Markets, with 4 dates planned.
We also plan to add some NEW events to boost the event programme further including additional Murder Mystery Evening dates (starting in April 2012).
Our weekly Health Walks and Cycle Rides will continue through 2012 courtesy of the Primary Care Trust and their team of volunteers (see Regular Events Page).
New this year - in response to many requests we are allowing groups to hire the Hall between 9.00pm and 2.00am to undertake paranormal investigations. There is a £1,000 hire fee per group (50% deposit required on booking) which covers a maximum group size of 30 investigators (split into two groups on the night) along with their equipment. Not all areas of the Hall will be accessible to investigators during the investigation. Other terms and conditions apply. If you are interested in bringing a group to carry out paranormal investigations, please contact the Hall Manager.
We will update these pages regularly as new details are confirmed. Keep checking back for information.
There are lots of event happening in most of the city's parks so wherever you are there will be something for you nearby. Check out what's on in your local park.
Tickets
Tickets for guided and evening visits at Croxteth Hall can be bought from the Hall Gift Shop or by phone - 0151 233 6930. Most credit and debit cards are accepted (small charge for posting out tickets).
Although tickets may still be available on the day, numbers are limited and visitors are advised to purchase their tickets in advance. Bookings are only confirmed with payment.
For all Evening Events (unless otherwise stated) please use the Service Entrance, off Croxteth Hall Lane. Free parking is included with the event ticket.
Guided walks and tours
Please wear suitable clothing and footwear for outdoor visits. Many walks are on woodland paths.
An adult MUST accompany children. Very bad weather may cause cancellation of outdoor walks or events. Any cancellations will be advertised as widely as possible in local media and on our website. Alternatively telephone Liverpool Direct on 0151 233 3007 for up to date information.
Accessibility
Parking for vehicles displaying a current Disabled Parking badge is close to the Hall. Follow the Conference and Disabled parking signs from Croxteth Hall Lane. The display rooms in the Hall are wheelchair accessible, with a lift available on request. Please ask if required at the Gift Shop. Most of the paths on the outdoor guided walks are either tarmac park roads or reasonably surfaced woodland tracks offering 'good' to 'bumpy' going for wheelchairs. There are no steep inclines. The Home Farm yard is cobbled, again offering 'bumpy' going for wheelchair users.
We reserve the right to amend prices, terms and conditions.
