Eccentric Gadgets and Inventions
10.30am to 5.00pm daily.
Have you ever wondered how our everyday household implements came about? Eccentric Gadgets and Inventions, an exhibition of all manner of curios, is displayed amongst the rooms in Croxteth Hall. These 150 quirky gadgets were manufactured by adventurous inventors during the Victorian and Edwardian age to make everyday life easier! Some have stood the test of time, such as the early teasmade, coffee maker and food processor. Others, however, didn't quite catch on. Self pouring teapot and alarmed door knobs, anyone? Not to mention the moustache spoon, to enable the hairier gentleman to drink soup in polite society... This unique collection of crazy contraptions is not to be missed! Free with Hall, Saver or Family ticket.
Exhibition items are part of the private collection of Maurice Collins.
