Hall KS1
Self guided
The Hall provides a good venue for teaching about how some homes were a long time ago; the kitchens, bedrooms and living areas that can be used to draw a historical comparison with children's own homes. The costumed figures help show differences in clothing and lifestyle.

The Horse in the House - NEW
The storyteller, dressed as a 'Victorian' lady, remembers about stories her grandma told about her own childhood when she played with Lord Sefton's children and they were taught to ride ponies. She recalls rhymes, poems that involve sounds and a game about horses that was popular with all the children in the big house. Some of the paintings in the House are used to show examples of horses belonging to the people who lived at Croxteth in the 'old days' and the party search for a shy 'horse' hiding in one of the rooms!
The Housekeeper and the Big House
The Storyteller in teh guise of housekeeper will talk of her life and duties in 'The Big House', and tell appropriate short stories, recite rhymes and poems at appropriate points on the way through part of the hall.
The Games They Played
The storyteller, dressed as a Victorian Governess, reminisces about her work with Lord Sefton's children and plays some games that were popular in and around the big old house. Examples of toys and games of the period will be made available in the Schoolroom.
