Come and visit our Home Farm - and meet the animals!

Member of staff with two lambsSee farm animals safely at close quarters.

Learn about farming and our agricultural heritage and experience life on a farm in our working farm and Rare Breeds Centre. Observe a selection of pigs, cattle, goats, sheep and horses. Baby animals can be seen at most times of the year.

Most of the farm buildings are Victorian and early Edwardian, housing our collection of Rare Breeds but we also have a modern beef shippon, allowing comparison of farming old and new.

Farm Rangers can be booked to take class groups on guided visits and answer your questions about the animals, their welfare and their keep - see relevant Key Stage sections.

Please ensure your group, adults and children, are acquainted with the Safety Notes for Teachers and Parents (PDF [40.6Kb] opens in new window) and our Farmyard Code (PDF [42.5Kb] opens in new window). The farm has toilet facilities and extra hand-washing facilities are available near the farm exit.
