Walled Garden - a place to explore using all your senses!

Dahlia growing in the Walled GardenSelf-Guided
Look and learn about colour, texture, shapes and scent - all in abundance from plants around the Garden. The greenhouses provide a contrasting sensory experience - warm, damp, earthy smells. Some familiar food may be seen - apples on trees, or grapes on vines with a variety of vegetables grown in season. Simple plant parts (flower, leaf) can be introduced. The lawns in the Walled Garden provide a peaceful corner for rest or quiet play.

Storytelling with our storyteller

Available: April - October, 10.00am or 1.00pm (unless otherwise arranged).
Duration: 1½ hours (can be shortened for younger groups)
Charge: £3.80 per child. Minimum charge: £95.00 per group

Peter Rabbit & Friends
The Head Gardener's wife looks at the plants and vegetables in the Walled Garden and tells a story of some of the animals that feed there. Mr McGregor has a vegetable patch which he guards against the likes of Peter Rabbit and others. A game of tag, or catch me is played and other stories and rhymes enliven this delightful visit.

Winnie the Pooh and Friends  (may also take place in the country park woodlands)
The Head Gardener's wife introduces herself and describes her typical day and points out some of the historical features in the garden. She then tells a Winnie the Pooh story - it will surely have something to do with bees and honey and somehow obtaining the honey without the bees knowing - but bees being bees - they are sure to find out!

Where's the Bear?  (Walled Garden and country park options)
A new adventure based on a well known story about a hunt for a bear. Visit the Walled Garden or the country park and follow a treasure hunt type trail to find the missing bear. Where is that bear?
