Home Farm

Children and adults will enjoy the sights and sounds of country life! Get close to all the animals (cows, pigs, horses, sheep, etc) on a real working farm.

See the traditional Victorian farmyard, home to an important collection of rare farm breeds of the past. Also learn about modern farming, watch our livestock grazing in the Country Park and look at the small animals collection.

Displays, demonstrations and special events in the Farm throughout the year let you find  out more about rural life.

The Farm Manager arranges to have baby animals around the farmyard at most times throughout the year, such as this day old lamb. There are also usually piglets, chicks and often calves to be seen.

New for this year (from Saturday 31 March), we will be having a small animal 'petting area', where children (under the careful supervision of our farm staff) will be able to get up close to some of our animals. Staff will be there between 2.30pm and 3.30pm to help hold the animals and answer any questions. We are also developing an undercover seating area with refreshment vending machines nearby.

Feeding Time on the Farm - keep your tickets and return to the farm to watch feeding time at 3.45pm each day. Farm and Saver tickets are valid for re-entry to the farm for Feeding Time only on the day of purchase.

When visiting Home Farm, please ensure you and your family follow our 'Farmyard Code'  displayed at the farm entrance. We provide hand washing facilities with soap and water and anti-bacterial gel on the farm. If you are or think you may be pregnant please avoid contact with sheep at lambing time.

Croxteth Home Farm is a Rare Breeds Survival Trust centre.

The Prince's Countryside Fund Photography Competition is open for photographs of life in the countryside; one of the six categories is 'Down on the Farm'. Great prizes are on offer, so why not take some fantastic photographs on your visit to the Home Farm; who knows you could be a winner. Full competition details are on the competition website.
