Piglets, lambs and chicks
Our Farmer has arranged for lots of young animals to be on the farm so when we open to visitors at the beginning of April there will be lots of new animals to see.
As well as 20 lambs (including our two Portland lambs in the poem competition), our newest arrivals are two litters of piglets.
Sally is a 'Pietrain' sow; she has a litter of 12 piglets (4 boars and 8 gilts) born on 12 March.
Megan is a Welsh sow: she has a litter of 13 piglets (7 boars and 6 gilts) born on 21 March. Welsh pigs are on the 'at risk' list of the Rare breeds Survival Trust. See a video and more pictures of our piglets (courtesy of the Liverpool Echo)
Our eggs haven't hatched just yet, but we are expecting some Silkie and Maram chicks very soon.
